1. Introduction
These Subscription Terms ("Subscription Terms") explain how paid access to Age of Aeternus works: what each plan includes, how you pay, how renewal and cancellation work, and how refunds are handled. Age of Aeternus is operated by NerdHonest LLC, a Georgia limited liability company ("NerdHonest," "we," "our," or "us").
These Subscription Terms are part of our Terms of Service. Words defined in the Terms of Service have the same meaning here.
You can read these Subscription Terms in the app and at aoathegame.com/legal/subscription-terms.
1.1 How Paid Access Is Offered Today
- Patreon. Paid Premium and Guide access is available through our Patreon founding program (see Section 2.3).
- App Store and Google Play. Where the app offers it, you can subscribe inside our iOS and Android apps. The App Store or Google Play bills you.
- Web and desktop. We don't sell subscriptions directly on the web or desktop apps, and we don't take card payments ourselves. On those platforms, paid access comes from Patreon, or from a subscription you started in our iOS or Android app.
- Codes and grants. You may also get paid access from a code or a grant (see Section 2.4).
Paid access belongs to your Age of Aeternus account. It applies wherever you sign in to that account.
1.2 Your Agreement
When you start a purchase in the app, or connect your Patreon account, you are asked to agree to these Subscription Terms. We record that you agreed, which version you agreed to, and when.
2. Plans
Age of Aeternus has a free plan and two paid plans, Premium and Guide.
All plans use the same Session Audio library. Paid plans add features and higher limits; they don't unlock extra music. Every plan streams the same audio quality: a single 192 kbps encode of each track.
2.0 Free Plan
Every account gets, at no cost:
- The full Session Audio library (music, ambience and sound effects), with the same 192 kbps audio as paid plans
- Sound Sets and playlists: create, play and edit your own
- Party listening: listen to party audio when a member of your party has Guide access (see Section 8.1)
- Daily download allowance: up to 500 MB of new audio a day
- Offline audio cache: up to 500 MB
- Character slots: 5 to start, and more from the loyalty catalog, up to 20 in total (see our Terms of Service)
The free plan doesn't include audio uploads or the Guide features listed below. A free account can't unlock party module sharing itself, but free members benefit from it when another member of their party has Premium or Guide (see Section 8.2).
2.1 Premium
Everything in Free, plus:
- Party module sharing: while you have active Premium, modules that members of your party imported or created (not official Age of Aeternus content) can be shared with your party (see Section 8.2)
- Larger daily download allowance: up to 2 GB of new audio a day
- Larger offline audio cache: up to 2 GB
- Upload your own audio: up to 100 MB in total, and up to 75 MB per file
2.2 Guide
Everything in Premium, plus:
- Party music: the party music player, with synchronized music shared with your party and Party DJ controls (see Section 8.1)
- SFX board: a 6-channel sound-effects board
- Stream overlays and Stream Deck control
- Guide virtual tabletop features, for example importing true 2.5D scene packages
- Unlimited daily downloads
- Larger offline audio cache: up to 5 GB
- Upload your own audio: up to 1 GB in total, and up to 75 MB per file
2.2a What No Plan Includes
No plan raises your number of character slots or the size of your parties, and no plan includes priority support.
2.2b Prices
When you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, the price, billing period and any taxes are shown before you confirm, and the price shown at checkout is the one that applies. Our standard U.S. prices are:
- Premium
- Monthly: $2.99/month.
- Annual: $29.99/year.
- Guide
- Monthly: $6.99/month.
- Annual: $59.99/year.
Patreon tier prices are shown on our Patreon page and are set by Patreon's checkout.
2.3 Patreon Founding Access
Our Patreon founding program has been live since August 17, 2026.
How access is granted:
- Patreon collects your payment under Patreon's own terms and privacy policy. We never see or store your card details or your Patreon password.
- Connect your Patreon account in the app with Connect Patreon. An eligible paid tier grants the matching access: the Nerd tier grants Premium, and the Big Nerd tier and above grant Guide.
- While your first payment is settling, your access is provisional for a short time and may be removed if the payment fails. Once a payment settles, access continues through the paid-through date that Patreon reports.
- Free trials and gifted Patreon memberships don't grant access. Eligibility starts with your own first successfully settled payment.
- On our Android and iOS apps, you can connect an existing Patreon membership, but the app doesn't link to Patreon to buy one.
Loyalty Points bonus: while your membership is paid, we add Loyalty Points to your account each paid month: 500 for Nerd, and 1,000 for Big Nerd and above (at most one subscriber bonus per month across all memberships; see Section 2.5). These points are a bonus with no cash value (see our Terms of Service). If a payment is refunded, you keep the points.
Founding rewards:
- Founding recognition, such as founding badges and titles.
- The List, a public list of founding supporters, isn't shown publicly yet. If we launch it, being listed will be opt-in, under the display name or alias you choose.
- Coming, not yet available: avatar frames, tenure emblems, List seals, and (for Big Nerd and above) Premium access in our Writerer app. These are planned, but we don't promise a date.
How access ends:
- If you cancel or downgrade, access continues through your current Patreon paid-through date and then ends.
- If a payment fails, is declined, refunded or reversed, or the membership otherwise stops being eligible, we remove the matching access.
- Founding recognition you have already earned stays when access ends. We may remove it if the payment that earned it is refunded or reversed, or to deal with fraud or abuse.
Later changes: when we offer equivalent subscriptions directly, we may stop granting access through Patreon. We will give you at least 30 days' notice before we make that change, and access you have already paid for continues to the end of its paid period.
Cancellation and refunds for Patreon memberships are handled by Patreon (see Sections 4.1 and 5.3).
2.4 Codes, Grants and "Lifetime" Access
You may also get Premium or Guide access from a promo code, a creator code, or a grant from us. Codes and grants are covered by the "Codes and Grants" section of our Terms of Service. In short: they have no cash value, each code can be used once per account unless it says otherwise, and they may expire.
"Lifetime" access lasts for as long as we operate Age of Aeternus. If we retire or rename the plan it was granted for, we move you to the closest plan we still offer, at no cost. Lifetime access ends only if we shut down the Service (after at least 30 days' notice; see Section 4.4) or if your account is terminated for breaking our Terms of Service. It can't be transferred to anyone else.
2.5 Loyalty Points Bonus
Paid access can come with a monthly Loyalty Points bonus:
- Patreon: 500 points for each paid month at the Nerd tier, and 1,000 at Big Nerd and above (see Section 2.3).
- App Store and Google Play: 250 points for Premium, or 500 for Guide. A monthly plan earns the bonus when you subscribe and at each renewal. An annual plan earns it when you subscribe and then on each monthly anniversary of the purchase: 12 bonuses for each year of the plan. An anniversary bonus is paid only in the month it falls in, not later. A free trial counts.
One bonus per month. Each account gets at most one subscriber bonus per calendar month (UTC), across all paid memberships. If more than one applies in the same month, you get the highest amount: a later, larger bonus tops you up to that amount, and nothing is paid twice.
No bonus for access that comes from a promo code, a creator code or a grant from us, for test purchases (such as TestFlight or Google Play test purchases), or for a subscription shared with you through Family Sharing. Ko-fi tips don't earn Loyalty Points.
These points are a bonus with no cash value. You can't buy points on their own. If a payment is refunded, you keep the points. Points that came with an App Store or Google Play purchase don't expire. Our Terms of Service explain how Loyalty Points work.
3. Billing and Renewal
3.1 How You Pay
- App Store (iOS): charged to your Apple Account.
- Google Play (Android): charged to your Google Play account.
- Patreon: charged by Patreon, under Patreon's terms.
We don't currently bill you directly. If we start, we will update these Subscription Terms first, including how automatic renewal, reminders and online cancellation work for direct billing.
3.2 Automatic Renewal
App Store and Google Play subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) until you cancel. You are charged the then-current price for the plan. To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. The store decides exactly when the renewal charge happens.
The purchase screen in the app shows the price and billing period, and tells you that you will be charged until you cancel.
Patreon memberships renew under Patreon's terms.
3.3 Price Changes
We may change our prices. If we raise the price of an App Store or Google Play subscription, the store will tell you before the new price applies, as its rules require, and may ask you to agree to it. If you don't want to pay the new price, cancel before it takes effect. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
3.4 Taxes
Prices may not include sales tax, VAT or other taxes. The store or Patreon adds any taxes and shows them before you complete your purchase.
3.5 Renewal Reminders
For subscriptions that renew automatically through the App Store or Google Play, we send a reminder about 7 days before each renewal, by email and in the app. For an annual plan, we also send a notice about 30 days before each renewal, by email and in the app. Keep your account email address current so you receive them. The App Store and Google Play may also send their own reminders.
4. Cancellation
4.1 How to Cancel
You can cancel at any time. Where you cancel depends on how you pay, because each platform keeps its own billing relationship with you. You cancel it yourself with that platform; we can't do it for you when you ask. (If we retire a plan, end the Service or close your account, Section 4.4 explains what we do.)
App Store (iOS):
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Choose Age of Aeternus and tap Cancel Subscription.
Google Play (Android):
- Open the Google Play app.
- Tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Choose Age of Aeternus and tap Cancel subscription.
Patreon (any device, including web and desktop):
- Sign in at patreon.com.
- Open your memberships.
- Find the Age of Aeternus membership and cancel it.
To see your current plan, open Profile Settings › Subscription & Billing in the app.
4.2 What Happens When You Cancel
- You keep paid features until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Your subscription doesn't renew after that.
- When it ends, your account moves to the free plan.
- Your account, characters and other content stay as they are.
- You can subscribe again at any time.
4.3 No Partial Refunds When You Cancel
Cancelling stops future charges. It doesn't refund the rest of the current period, unless the platform that billed you gives a refund under its own policy (see Section 5) or the law requires one.
4.4 If We Retire a Plan, End the Service or Close Your Account
Retiring a plan, or closing your account or ending your paid access without cause. If we do any of these for a reason other than a breach of our Terms of Service:
- we will give you at least 30 days' notice, by email and in the app;
- your paid access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. We never end it earlier, except for a breach of our Terms of Service;
- where the billing platform lets us, we will cancel the renewal for you. Where it doesn't, we will explain how to cancel: App Store subscriptions can only be cancelled by you, in your Apple account settings; and
- any refund follows the policy of the platform that billed you (see Section 5).
Shutting down the Service. If we shut down the Service entirely:
- we will give you at least 30 days' notice, by email and in the app;
- we will cancel renewals where the billing platform lets us, and explain how to cancel where it doesn't;
- we will refund the unused part of your current paid period where the billing platform allows it. For App Store purchases, which only Apple can refund, we will help you request a refund from Apple; and
- lifetime access ends when the Service shuts down.
Lifetime access: if we retire or rename the plan it was granted for, we move you to the closest plan we still offer, at no cost. Lifetime access ends only if we shut down the Service, after at least 30 days' notice, or for a breach of our Terms of Service.
None of this applies if we end your paid access or your account because you broke our Terms of Service. In that case there is no notice period and no refund from us.
5. Refunds
Refunds are decided by the platform that billed you, under its own policy. We can't issue refunds for App Store purchases.
5.1 App Store (iOS)
Request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides all App Store refund requests under its own policy.
5.2 Google Play (Android)
Google Play's refund policy applies. You can request a refund through Google Play; see Google Play's help pages for how and when. You can also contact us at billing@nerdhonest.com and we will look into it.
5.3 Patreon
Patreon's refund policy applies. Contact Patreon, or contact us at billing@nerdhonest.com and we will see what we can do through Patreon.
5.4 What a Refund Changes
- When a payment is refunded or reversed, we may remove the paid access it paid for.
- You keep any Loyalty Points that payment earned.
- We may remove founding recognition earned by a Patreon payment that is refunded or reversed (see Section 2.3).
6. Free Trials
We don't currently offer free trials. If we offer one later, the app or store will show its length and price before you start. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it will turn into a paid subscription. Free trials are limited to one per person, and you may not use extra accounts to get more.
7. Features and Access
7.1 When Features Become Available
- Paid features become available once the payment is confirmed. This is usually immediate but can take a few minutes.
- Some features need a recent version of the app.
- Some features are only available on some platforms. For example, Restore Purchases is only in the iOS, Android and macOS apps.
7.2 Service Availability
We work to keep the Service available, but we don't guarantee that it will always be available or error-free. Planned maintenance and outages can interrupt paid features. We will try to give advance notice of planned maintenance. Subscription periods aren't extended for interruptions.
7.3 Feature Changes
We may add, change or remove features of a plan. A change that materially reduces what a paid plan includes applies to you only from your next renewal, except where the change is needed for security or to comply with the law. We will tell you in advance, so you can cancel before that renewal if you don't want to continue.
8. Party Sharing
8.1 Guide Party Audio
- When any member of a party has active Guide access, that party gets Guide party audio: a party music player with synchronized music that every member can hear. Members don't need their own subscription to listen.
- The party also shares some other Guide features: Party DJ controls, the SFX board, stream overlays, and importing true 2.5D scene packages. Some of these also need a party role that allows them. Importing any scene package also needs your own Premium or Guide access.
- If no member has active Guide access any more, these shared features stop for that party. This can take a little while, usually less than an hour.
- Other party members don't get the subscriber's personal limits. Daily downloads, the offline audio cache and upload space follow each member's own plan.
8.2 Party Module Sharing
- While any member of a party has active Premium or Guide access, the party's Guide, owner or an admin can share with the party any module that a party member imported or created and that has finished importing. Official Age of Aeternus content can't be shared this way.
- The party's Guide, owner and admins can read the whole shared module. Other members see the module's details and the parts of it revealed to them during play.
- If no member has active Premium or Guide access any more, shared module links pause until a member has one again.
- You never need a subscription to use content you own.
8.3 Sharing Limits
- Sharing applies only inside the party. It doesn't extend to your friends list.
- Personal features stay with the subscriber.
- Abuse of sharing, such as creating parties only to share content with people you don't play with, may lead to us limiting sharing or ending paid access under our Terms of Service.
8.4 Family Sharing
Family Sharing is not offered for these subscriptions: App Store Family Sharing and Google Play family library don't apply to them. Each person who wants their own paid features needs their own subscription.
9. Changes to These Subscription Terms
We may update these Subscription Terms. When we do, we will change the "Last Updated" date. For material changes, we will tell you in advance, by email and in the app.
Changes apply from the date stated in the notice. They don't change the terms of a period you have already paid for. If you don't agree with a change, cancel before it takes effect. After a material change, if you have Premium or Guide access of your own, the app asks you to review and agree to the updated version before you continue; if you agreed to an earlier version but don't have paid access of your own, the app shows you a notice about the change. When you next start a purchase or connect Patreon, you will be asked to agree to the current version.
10. Account and Subscription Issues
10.1 Payment Problems
If a renewal payment fails, the App Store, Google Play or Patreon handles retries, any grace period and the related messages under its own rules. If the payment can't be collected, your paid access ends.
10.2 Restoring Purchases
If your App Store or Google Play subscription isn't showing:
- Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you used to subscribe.
- Open Age of Aeternus and sign in.
- Go to Profile Settings › Subscription & Billing and tap Restore under Restore Purchases.
Restore Purchases is available in the iOS, Android and macOS apps. On other platforms, your paid access appears automatically when you sign in to the same Age of Aeternus account.
For Patreon, make sure your Patreon account is connected (Connect Patreon) and that the membership is active.
10.3 If Paid Features Aren't Working
- Check that your subscription or membership is active with the store or Patreon.
- Try restoring purchases (see above).
- Sign out of Age of Aeternus and sign back in.
- If it still doesn't work, email billing@nerdhonest.com.
11. Contact

12. Legal Notices
12.1 Relationship to the Terms of Service
These Subscription Terms are part of our Terms of Service. If they conflict, these Subscription Terms control for subscription and billing matters, and the Terms of Service control for everything else.
12.2 Governing Law and Disputes
The governing-law, venue and dispute-resolution provisions of the Terms of Service (Section 15) apply to these Subscription Terms.
12.3 Store Terms
If you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply to the purchase. For the App Store, see the "App Store and Google Play" section of our Terms of Service.
12.4 Severability
If any part of these Subscription Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
Document History
- Version 2.0 (October 2, 2026). Patreon access is live (since August 17, 2026). The plan features now match the app: 192 kbps audio on every plan; daily download allowances of 500 MB, 2 GB or unlimited; caches of 500 MB, 2 GB or 5 GB; uploads of 100 MB (Premium) or 1 GB (Guide), at most 75 MB per file. Sound Sets and playlists are on every plan. Premium and Guide unlock party module sharing. Guide adds stream overlays and Stream Deck control. A Guide's party shares Guide party audio and some other Guide features, while downloads, the offline cache and uploads follow each member's own plan. Annual store plans earn the subscriber bonus on each monthly anniversary, and we send a notice 30 days before an annual renewal. Removed web card payments, the web money-back guarantee, the party cache and the one-party limit. Refunds now keep Loyalty Points. Undelivered founding rewards are marked "coming". Defined "lifetime". Cancellation steps are by platform. Refunds, retries and price-change notices follow each platform's rules. If we retire a plan or close an account without cause, we give at least 30 days' notice, paid access runs to the end of the period already paid for, and we cancel renewals where the platform lets us. If we shut down the Service, we give 30 days' notice and refund unused paid time where the platform allows (for the App Store, we help you request a refund from Apple). Lifetime holders move to the closest plan if theirs is retired. Material plan cuts apply from your next renewal. Removed the uptime promise.
- Version 1.4 (August 14, 2026). Previous version.
Effective Date: October 2, 2026
Version: 2.0
